Human Capital Needs

Board Members: Attend board meetings and provide overall strategic guidance to the organization. Take responsibility for an organizational department of C-town Spirit that lies within their area of professional expertise, such as Public Relations, Marketing, or Sales. Responsibilities include oversight of the in-class C-town Spirit Coach for their department and meeting with the student employees on a periodic basis (every other month) for an hour.

Guest Speakers: Share experiences on starting up a business, what it takes to do it, how it grows, and particular emphasis on how it stays tactically organized. A guest speaker can come from any business sector such as non-profit, for profit, sales & marketing, distribution, etc. Time commitment is approximately 1 hour for the session.

C-town Spirit Coaches: Serve as in-class coaches to the departments they are assigned to and assist the student employees with developing and achieving their departmental goals and objectives. Coaches provide feedback, suggest improvements, and help keep the students focused on meeting their objectives and integrating with the other C-town departments. C-town Coaches visit the classroom 2-3 times per month working with the same department. Coaches may give the students additional tasks to complete between sessions and should be available by phone or e-mail as necessary. Coaches should be educationally or career-aligned with the departmental missions they oversee. It is helpful if they have experience with small businesses. Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 times per month. Classes vary in length and time of day but average approximately 45-90 minutes.
